Something that I thought would be nice to play around with: a few ceramic moulds (modified if nescessary) and a lot of latex (or silicone), & maybe some suitable dye or glitter..you yould create your own personalised rubber eagles, horses, rabbits, puppies, kitties..even a rubber Jebus gingerbread house should you so desire XD

Of Bugs and Things [21 Apr 2005|06:42pm]

When I was a child, somebody gave my younger brother a bug-making kit. This was complete with plastic goo, which hardened into an actual insect after it was poured into a mold and baked. I had a particular fondness for many-legged bugs. The next time a brave my way to my parents' house, I am going to search for that kit. However, does anybody know where I could find more plastic goo?

Rubber Crocodiles [06 Mar 2005|05:51pm]

So I walked by a store on my way home, today, and spied several rubber crocodiles in the window. Mouths open, teeth exposed, I began to ponder the question of whether or not I could afford one. I am wondering, how many different types of rubber crocodiles are there?

Green Rubber Frog [22 Feb 2005|07:27pm]

When several of us still associated with our Unfriend Antoinette, there was something she owned, which we all coveted. It was a green rubber frogs with legs that flopped. She kept it on the edge of the bathtub in the WC, so every time somebody needed to use the facilities, there it was. I admit I even picked it up once, just to hold it in my hand. However, in order to avoid Temptation, I put it back, instead of stuffing it in my pocket. (She would have noticed its absence.) If I can ever find a green rubber frog like that one, I will buy it on the spot.

I'll kick off with something silly [19 Feb 2005|10:10am]

I was at a store with a fellow graduate student from India. He was from a small, very devoutly Hindu town. We came across the rubber duckies and he asked me in all seriousness "Is that a god?" I tried hard not to laugh and told him it was the god of the bath.
